Ask the PC Guy

I currently have a toshiba A135 S4407 but I don’t know if this suits me. Perhaps you can recommend a laptop or maybe this one is good enough. Here are my answers:Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the laptop? $600 or less

Screen: What size screen do you want, and do you need widescreen? 14″ and up. Widescreen would be nice.

Brands: Are there any brands you want or don’t want to buy? Anything reliable and good ratings

Mobility: How much will you need and how long does the battery need to last? It will be plugged in 85% of the time

Durability: Does this laptop need to be sturdy or durable/semi-durable? Just as long as it will not have any expensive issues.

Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this laptop and if so, how much? Basically web, movies, music, occasional multitasking

Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games? I do most of my gaming on consoles but I’ve been wanting to try some PC gaming. I’m not sure if my current laptop (Intel 950) will run games.

Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or multimedia encoding? Not that I know of.

Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing? I would like 100gb or more for music and movies. But I can always just use an external which can hold more.

Optical Media: Will you need to burn any optical media like CDs or DVDs? Both

Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility? I now prefer Vista Premium
